Physical Therapy Services
We offer physical therapy services including evaluations and treatment plans. Our evaluations always begin with a comprehensive subjective history taking and patient goal setting. We assess posture, breathing, movement patterns, and soft tissue integrity with all of our patients. Depending upon the diagnosis we will utilize specialized testing specific to that part of the body. We are trained to evaluate and treat the pelvic floor muscles and the tailbone via external and internal techniques. Although these techniques will often give us the most information and most direct treatment, it is not always necessary and never pushed if there is hesitation or extreme discomfort.
Like orthopedic physical therapists we utilize posture, exercise, manual therapy, modalities, and education to help you reach your goals. We use outcome measures to monitor progress and provide you with education and homework. Most importantly we empower you to make lasting changes for your health. We are trauma informed and use a biopsychosocial approach to address healing. This means in addition to strength and mobility testing we may be measuring how things like stress and pain are impacting the quality of your life.
Arvigo Therapy
Arvigo® Therapy is based on ancient Mayan techniques of abdominal massage that have been practiced by traditional healers, midwives and shamans for thousands of years in the therapeutic treatment of the reproductive, digestive, and urinary systems. The techniques were developed by Rosita Arvigo, DN based on her apprenticeship in Belize with renowned Maya healer Don Elijio Panti. Best known for the correction of a prolapsed or tilted uterus, this technique gained popularity as a complementary therapy to promote fertility, though its beneficial applications are far-reaching. The techniques are a form of external, non-invasive physical manipulation that use only the therapist's hands to bring internal organs into proper alignment. Proper alignment improves the flow of blood, lymph, nerves and chu’lel or life force in the body, allowing for nourishment and repair to naturally occur.
